Students Partner With OLLI to Enhance Learning
For UCBA students who haven't heard of OLLI just yet, it's definitely something worth learning about. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is one of the oldest, most successful programs in the U.S. that gives mature residents of Greater Cincinnati another chance at learning about and doing something they love.
This program includes many opportunities for seniors to have social interaction with others and experience classes that really interest them.
OLLI has a wide range of topics such as "Adventuring into Photography," "First Lady: Martha to Michelle, Their Saga," "Living Healthy To 100+," and "Life in Georgian England."
OLLI and UCBA have also started an Intergenerational Project this fall for the very first time. OLLI students have volunteered to be practice-interviewed by first year Nursing students and will also volunteer for the Dental Hygiene and Nutrition programs. They even volunteered to be tutors in the UCBA Math Lab.
OLLI students also get the opportunity to interact and learn with UCBA students. There are two classes already scheduled for that: "Empowering Your Interactions," with Dr. Lynn Ritchey, and "Beginning French," with Professor Jody Ballah.
OLLI also has a Brown Bag Lunch program, which is open Monday-Friday, 12:30-1:50 p.m. One of these sessions is on the upcoming election, and it is open to UCBA students and faculty as well.
This program is an opportunity for seniors who love learning to get exactly what they are looking for.
