Vet tech program raises money for animal charities
The student chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (SCNAVTA) had a lot going on this past quarter. Students volunteered at the Freestore/Foodbank Pet Health Day. Over 200 animals were provided with healthcare. Micro-chipping and rabies vaccinations were provided at the SPCA and Canine Health Day for police dogs all around the Tri-State.
The Vet Tech program also got involved with various charities during the Christmas holiday. SCNAVTA collected items for the County Animal Shelter of Prebble, gathered $100 in cash and a truckload of toys, as well as blankets and dishes. An article in the Eaton Newspaper talked of the donations.
There will be more volunteer events in the Winter and Spring terms this year, and a Bark in the Park will happen sometime in the spring. Last year, it raised over $3,000 for animal charities.
