New Club on Campus
There is a new club on campus this year, the UCBA Chemisty Club or Chem Club for short.
According to Club President Matt Mc- Daniel, the Chem Club works to build an overall understanding and appreciation of chemistry and the different aspects that it entails.
Not only do these students partake in experiments on campus, but they are very active in the community as well. “We're volunteering for UC Smiles, par- ticipating in the Blue Ash Dash in Octo- ber, and looking forward to finding ways of doing community outreach to local schools by visiting and showing a few cool demonstrations,” McDaniel stated in an interview last week.
The Club will be attending monthly American Chemical Society meetings to network with professional chemists in what members hope will be a learning experience for all involved.
“Last year at the March ACS Meeting, some of us got to meet the science advisor from ‘Breaking Bad’!” McDaniel said.
On top of all that, they will be run- ning study groups for General and Or- ganic Chemistry students, as well as one- on-one study sessions for any students looking to obtain volunteer hours.
The Club meets on the first Friday of every month at 1:40 p.m. in Muntz 309.
