Wheelchair Football is For Everyone
Are you or anyone you know looking for some fun way to get involved and be active? Well I may have just the activity for you: wheelchair football.
What is wheelchair football, you may be wondering? It’s awesome, that’s what it is. Wheelchair football is a very fun and easy way to get involved in your community, and virtually anyone can play, handi- capped or not.
Anyone includes paraplegics, quadriplegics, amputees, MS, CP, polio, visually-impaired, blind, deaf, non-disabled individuals, men, women, children, adults, seniors, and everyone else.
Wheelchair football has actually been around for 23 years. That’s longer than most of us have been alive. Over those 20-plus years, many UC students have been involved in this sport. And here’s a heads up to Special Education majors: if you come out to play, you get activity hours.
Now, I know your next question is “How can I get involved in this amazing ac- tivity that will not only benefit my body, but also my mind?” I have an answer for that as well. If you are interested in watching or playing, you can come by the Lablond Rec- reation Center (2335 Riverside Dr).
The game is played every Saturday starting October 4 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. If you would like more information on this sport, contact John Kraimer, UCBA Director of Disability Services. I’ll see you guys there.
