Now is a great time to take advantage of one of the great opportunities available for UCBA students by visiting an art exhibit that’s near and dear to our campus. This exhibit, Modes of Representation, is located at the UC Blue ash Annex on the corner of Cooper and Plainfield and will take place from now until the second of October. The exhibit is open during the week from 10am to 5pm, as well as on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

At first sight of the art exhibit I was almost taken back due to the brevity of the exhibit as a whole. For some reason I had a preconceived idea about the amount of content needed to constitute an exhibit. Yet, after going through the exhibit and taking in all the creativity the exhibit had to offer I felt as though in no way was it lacking in content or artistic expression. The exhibit featured three exceptionally talented artists; Jeremy Long, Nicole Trimble, as well as Elijah Van Benschoten, who was the most featured artist of the gallery. Although the exhibit consists of only two gallery rooms and features approximately twenty-five pieces of art work, the artwork still left a lasting impression on this temporary art reviewer.

An aspect of the exhibit that really stood out to me was the opportunity to talk with the artist is presented to any and everyone who visits the gallery. On September 23th from 1-2pm there will be an artist talk with Van Benschoten in the gallery. This unique experience will allow fans of the work or this particular gallery exhibit to hear first hand about life as an artist, as well as hear about artistic influences and opinions about the artwork on display.

The styles of art in this exhibit are incredibly diverse and capture a myriad of different levels of artistic expression. A few of the following styles are included in the exhibit: realism, modernism, post modernism, and surrealism, but it is important to know the gallery isn’t solely limited to these specific styles. Overall the exhibit, Modes of Representation, was a true sight and should be experienced by all of the campus goers at UC Blue ash who can fit the gallery in their busy schedule.
