You're Pretty...Ugly

Your outfit is cute, but your attitude is not.

Have you ever heard that old saying, "Clothes don't make the man, the man makes the clothes"?

It's very true.

How you treat others is a reflection of your character, morals, and values. It says a lot when you would rather stand in the hallways taunting other students who are going where you should be…class.

It speaks volumes to your peers, instructors, and your parents about what your priorities actually are.

We all love a good party!

Choosing to party over studying? Hanging out over going to class?

Come on, that's basically choosing failure over success. I'm not sure about you, but people who lack anything to offer in the present or the future is toward the bottom of the attractive list. No one is rushing to beat down their door. They probably don't have one to call their own.

Attitude most certainly equals altitude. If you're mean spirited and trying to climb that ever so desirable corporate ladder, your bad attitude is a turn off for others. So if you're wondering why you just can't seem to get ahead it's because the line for people wanting to work with you consists of yourself and your mom.

Seriously, your negative attitude is going to climb the ladder before you, hindering potential promotions and trickling down to clients. A negative attitude is like a leaky faucet. You can turn it off, but boy is it tricky turning it off.

When you smile and treat people the way you want to be treated, you feel better about yourself. Internally, your peace increases. Sleeping at night comes easily. Colleagues are more apt to think of you when opportunities present themselves. Success combines with an increasing social circle providing a chance to prove your worth to a company and develop a support system.

Just because you treat people well does not mean that everyone will treat you well. There are a lot of people who mistake kindness for a weakness. Those are usually the ones with the bitter beer faces wondering why you are doing so well and they are struggling. If they do have a top position in a company, then their concern turns to why your family appears so loving and theirs does not. Or why they do not have a loving husband/wife of their own. It is probably your bad attitude pushed that special someone away.

Finances and love affect a big part of our quality of life. Luther Vandross said it very well: "A house is not a home when there's no one there to hold you tight and kiss goodnight."

Same is true of having a wife who would love to support you, but you are your biggest obstacle in succeeding.

Until next time, take it slow; increasing good Karma is a day by day practice. Make the effort receive the benefits of beauty flowing from the inside to the outside.
