Science Tutoring Lab Gets New Peer Tutors
UCBA Science Tutoring Lab Director Daniel Landfried has welcomed some new enthusiastic students in the Science Learning Lab to help tutor their peers. These new tutors are stepping up, excited to help their peers with courses they have previously taken and courses they are currently enrolled in.
One of the new student tutors in particular is Kristi Keirns. Kristi is a returning student to UC and is a Veterinary Tech student, as well as a Biology major.
"My favorite thing about the tutoring position, first and foremost," Kristi said, "is the fact that I get the opportunity to help other struggling students. I've had my own academic struggles in the past, and I know how frustrating it can be. Knowing that you've just reduced some stress for someone else is rewarding and so far all of the students I've interacted with have been incredibly appreciative."
Kristi believes that helping others understand the material has also had a positive affect on her own understanding of the material. "Sometimes the best way to understand something is to explain it to another person, in your own words," she explained.
Don't be afraid to ask for help with your studies, especially in the Science Lab. There are other students like Kristi who are really geared to helping us all out. Thanks, Kristi.
