Apple Outdoes Itself With New iPhone 5

On September 13, Apple held a much anticipated presentation to introduce the company's newest line-up of consumer electronics. New generations of iOS devices such as the iPod Nano, iPod Touch and the iPhone 5 were highlighted.
When you look at it at first, the new iPhone doesn't look all that much different from the iPhone 4S. It's still thin with an aluminum bumper and antennas located on the side of the phone, although it is noticeably lighter.
But upon closer inspection, the most notable change is a taller four-inch retina display. The phone still has the same width but a taller height, allowing the consumer to see more while still being able to use it comfortably with one hand.
The larger screen also allows for more real estate, adding a fifth row of application icons on your home screen, letting you see more events in your calendar and more of the Internet in Safari, and it gives developers more space for better applications.
Applications such as iTunes, YouTube, and the App Store have been completely redesigned to utilize the extra space, but don't worry. All your previous software applications will still work on the larger screen.
The iPhone now uses a new eight-megapixel iSight camera with five perfectly aligned lenses toped off with a sapphire lens that makes images sharper and cleaner all while protecting the camera more.
With the new camera you are able to use face detection (up to 10 faces), record 1080p video, take pictures while recording video, and create stunning panorama shots by simply moving your iPhone horizontally along.
The front facing camera has also been upgraded to a 720p HD camera used for FaceTime and video chats that can now be sent over a 3G data connection.
As rumored, the iPhone 5 will not use the same 30-pin dock connecter as the previous iPhones, iPads, and iPods, but instead will use something called the lightning connecter. The lightning connecter allows the phone to charge faster, is smaller in size, and is reversible, meaning it doesn't matter which way you plug it in.
Apple went on in their Keynote explaining the other hardware improvements, such as faster WiFi speeds and faster data speeds, now using 4G LTE. The new iOS 6 was mentioned as well, with notable improvements such as turn-by-turn navigation and Facebook integration.
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc. came back out and recapped the iPhone 5. Then he introduced the Foo Fighters, who performed a three song acoustic set of "Times Like These," "Hero," and "Walk." It was a very odd, yet exciting way to end an Apple presentation.
The iPhone 5 will start at $199, with the iPhone 4S at $99 and the iPhone 4 for no charge with a two-year contract. Other models with larger storages are available.
