Video Games: Madden NFL 13 Reaches New Heights in Realism
It's a fact that many people play Madden NFL Football. The game has always been popular. Football is a game of inches and touchdowns. This edition of Madden NFL has proven that football games have come a long way. Madden 13 is one of the most amazing games in sports gaming. Madden 13 was rated 8.25 on a 10-point scale by Game Informer magazine, based only on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems.
There are many new features to the Madden game, such as Connected Careers. This game mode is great because it makes the online franchise feature set the same as the offline one. The superstar mode, where you can call your own plays, is included. I'm glad they brought that back, because it lets you have more control over what plays you can call at any point in the game. In other words, you will have more chances of winning games.
The XP system in Madden 13 is also amazing, because it lets you increase your player stats in any certain area. The CPU also does a decent job if you auto-upgrade on skill progression.
Another very interesting feature is the way it incorporates natural player progression/regression and rewards great performances and solid work at practices. This system is a great way to keep you invested in your team.
A thing that I would like to see different is the XP upgrades or letting coaches influence their teams more. Also including more of the training staff and assistant coaches would add another feature to coaching on and off the field. This is probably the most fascinating Madden in history.
I really like connected careers in Madden 13. But there are some things that are missing and are very irritating to me. The overarching calendar on connected careers is hard to read because you don't know how many scouting periods are left before the draft and how many times you can place wagers on a player in free agency. You can't even see certain information about players you are trying to sign or trade. Also there are some overall ratings for potential draft picks. Taking away the combine and pro days was just crazy in my eyes.
All in all from Madden 12 to Madden 13, I believe that there many differences and similarities, such as the new infinity physics engine. This brings to the game more realistic physics, tackling style, and several different contact areas on the body. The effects of player collisions are inconsistent at times, meaning that when you do inside runs you can trip over players occasionally and the new physics engine makes players look sloppy as well.
At some point in the game you will see players flopping on the ground, arms flailing, and legs buckling on offense. On defense, sometimes tackles feel predetermined.
Madden 13 will be one of the better games out of all the Madden series, even with its flaws. But it's still much better than Madden 12. There's been a long process making each Madden better than the last. This edition to Madden is one of the best.
