The Internet: Twitter Stories-Get Yours Out There
Have you ever wanted to receive up-to-date information, right when it happens or wanted to share your story with other people because you feel like it needs to get "out there?" Twitter has launched what is called Twitter Stories.
So what are Twitter stories? They are a new innovation designed for people to share what is going on with them right then at the moment.
So what does a person have to do in order to write one? Just start typing the story on Twitter or Twitlonger (if it exceeds more than 140 characters) and include #twitterstories or @twitterstories.
Twitter stories have been extremely beneficial to tweeters because they can save people's lives and possibly help others start a new beginning.
Aaron Durand's mother was struggling due to the financial crisis with her bookstore in Portland, Oregon, so he decided to help her. What he did was to write about it on his blog and then tweet it on his Twitter account.
He told all his followers that if they bought at least $50 worth of books, then he would buy them a burrito. So the story blurted all over Twitter. Pretty soon, one after another, his followers started to tell other people about it, and his mother started to run out of books to sell.
Another amazing story happened with a Hollywood critic named Roger Ebert. This man was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, which caused him to be completely mute. So, in order to get his word across, he decided to post on Twitter. "I don't make any claims for Twitter," Ebert said in a Chicago Sun Times article. "It suits my circumstances. It can occupy way too much time. But there's something seductive about it: the stream, the flow, the chatter, the sudden bursts of news, the snark, the gossip, time itself tweet-tweet-tweeting away."
So in other words, Twitter is an escape for him to write his personal opinion, since he cannot speak.
In royal news, her majesty, Queen Rania Al Abdulla of Jordan, decided to use Twitter as a global reach to people promoting peace, prosperity, and education. She is the author of the book "The Sandwich Swap," which talks about two girls who "swap" a sandwich at lunch in school.
This "swap" turns into a fight, but eventually the two girls come together and later on form an international food festival at their school.
According to Twitter, "Queen Rania does the same on Twitter. She tweets in both Arabic and English and actively replies, responds and connects people in a global conversation. Her tweets champion the role of education to bring peace and opportunity."
So in other words, Twitter is an excellent source to reach out to people in a time of need and is also an excellent source just to get your story "out there."
