You Should Care About Who Gets Elected
Do you know whom you're voting for? The rest of society doesn't think that we college students have an interest in or knowledge about politics.
We've heard it before: we need to "get involved." We are content with living and believing that the political world doesn't directly affect us.
For this election, however, we are wrong. Who gets elected will directly affect us, and it will be, in my opinion, a negative result if we elect Romney into office.
During a campaigning event in Manchester, New Hampshire, a college student approached Mitt Romney with a question: "What would you do if elected to address the student-debt crisis?" Romney replied that voters shouldn't expect him to boost Pell grant awards or help pay off student loans. His solution to the debt issue is for students to borrow the money from their parents for school.
President Obama's response to the same question was "I want to make sure everybody understands that not everybody has parents who have the money to lend."
As a student or "borrower," we need to take action and make sure that our voices are heard. I urge you to get involved. Politics isn't just about men in suits and ties talking about the issues of this country anymore.
Elections do affect us. You have a voice; use it.
