Lots of Study Abroad Financial Aid Available
With costs ranging from $2000 to $4,000, you may think that participation in a study abroad program would be economically impossible.
However, there is substantial financial aid available to help with the cost of this once-in-a-lifetime educational experience. For 2014, there will be several different study abroad awards:
• The Dean's Study Abroad Scholarship program for any UCBA students participating in a UCBA study abroad program (for 2014, that's the British Study Abroad Program and the Quebec Study Abroad Program); awards are typically $500-$1200.
• The Christie Study Abroad Scholarship, which will provide two grants of $1,000 each for UCBA students in UCBA study abroad programs.
• The Lee Baker Jr. Study Abroad Scholarship of $500 to one UCBA student in a UCBA study abroad program.
• The John D. and Marjorie E. Sipple Scholarship of $200 given to one UCBA student in the UCBA British Study Abroad Program.
In addition, the UC International Office has already provided program grants for both the British and Quebec programs that will lower the cost of the British program by $500 and the Quebec program by $400 for each student in the program.
The UCBA Study Abroad and Exchange Committee is sponsoring sessions on the proper way to effectively write a scholarship application. These sessions will be held in Muntz Hall Room 350 the following dates and times:
• Oct. 23, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
• Oct. 24, 2-3 p.m.
• Oct. 26, 10-11 a.m.
