Time to go Rogue

Movie Review on Haywire

You are Mallory Kane. You were one of the best secret agents ever. Smart, sly and pretty. You are walking back to your hotel room and all hell breaks loose. That's when the whole world seems to be tearing apart all around you. You slowly realize that the allies you thought would help you are becoming your enemies, so what now? Who do you trust? Who can you trust? No one. Time to go rogue and as an ex-marine it's time to get a little payback and show them what hell really looks like. As they try to hunt you down, a young man named Scott is swept into the mess that you call your life and as calmly as you can, you enlist his help and tell him what happened in your hell bent life. He's confused, he scared, and he's not sure what's going on. Not to worry, Scott, most people who watched this movie will feel the same way.

We haven't had many movies lately with leading ladies so I guess it was about time to see one. "Haywire" was the newest action movie starring Gina Joy Carano, who is known for being in the television show "Human Gladiators" and is a professional MMA fighter. Now if you have seen the commercials you'd get excited for the movie. A pretty dark hair women fighting to try and clear her name…cool right…to bad this movie has already been done before…instead of a women they used a man and instead of calling it "Haywire" it was called "Bourne Identity." They made three of those movies already and the fourth is in the making.

Not to be mean but it just wasn't that good of a movie and the sad thing was I was really looking forward to it. As a woman, I wanted this movie to be great. But though the commercials made the movie look cool, the sad part, the best parts of the movie are shown in the commercials. The movie is confusing and there are so many names to remember that while you're watching, you want to pull back and think: What's going on? Poor Scott, he was pulled into this movie and so was the poor audience. When I think back on that movie I begin to realize it wasn't that good of a movie but when I first watched it I loved it. Now that may seem strange but here's why.

Though I say this movie overall is bad it does have some good points. Carano is a MMA fighter and she gets to show off her skills in this movie and it really shows how good of a fighter she is. She is a fantastic fighter, but, though she is a great fighter, her acting skills could use a bit of work. But not only where the fighting scenes good and realistic, the movie showed how hard it is and how taxing it is when you fight another person. In most movies, the main character is the best fighter and no one can beat him or her, but in this movie they actually showed that a real fight is a struggle between both fighters. Not only that but all the fighting scenes where real. Carano didn't use or need a stunt double and this movie showed that she could take a punch and it showed that Carano is not just a fighter but an actress. The movie was hard to understand but the end it wraps it all up, thouh you may still walked away confused.

My conclusion: Wait for it to go to DVD before seeing it.
