Students Form New Multicultural Club
UCBA students Brigitta Kulberg and Samuel Onyango have taken the initiative to found the new UCBA Multicultural Club in hopes of bringing more diversity and understanding to campus.
Both students have come to UCBA internationally and wanted to create a place for those in similar positions to meet new people and open up in a much simpler way.
"Basically, Brigitta and I were talking about the experiences that we shared when we came here. We realized that there were a lot of different students coming here who didn't have the opportunity to socialize and meet new people," Onyango explained.
The club, which will hold biweekly meetings, is working to recruit students of all cultures. Whether they come to UCBA internationally or have lived in Ohio all of their lives, Onyango says there is a spot for them.
"Local students can share their culture with international students and international students can share their culture with local students," he explained.
A total of 62 students have shown interest in the newborn society.
"I honestly feel that once everything gets settled in, we'll make a positive impact," Onyango expressed.
For more information about the Multicultural Club, students can email multiculturalclubba@gmail.com or visit Multicultural Affairs Coordinator Corrine Witherspoon in the Student Life Office, Room 123 Muntz.
