New Prof Joins Art & Visual Communication
This year the UCBA Art & Visual Communications Department welcomes a new member to the team: Professor Jamie Albert.
Albert is from Chillicothe, a small town in central Ohio. She attended Miami University as an undergrad and obtained her Master in Fine Art, Graphic Design at Indiana University.
Her main areas of interests in the field of art and design include design history, fine printing, branding and information graphics. Her current focus is on visualizing information to improve patient education.
Albert speaks highly of the classes she is teaching here this fall. "Classes are going great," she said. "I'm very happy to be here. The students are friendly and the faculty has been helpful. I'm starting to get settled in, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better."
She has fond memories of her own college days. "I have great memories of hanging out in the type shop at Indiana University," she explained. "It held a functioning [letterpress] and a large collection of metal and wood type. I spent many hours there printing collaborative pieces with my mentor."
Albert also offered some advice to new students. "My best advice to anyone is to make the most of each day," she said. "Do what makes you happy and be good to one another."
