The Internet: Indaba Today OFfers Boost to Unsigned Musicians
Do you play an instrument, sing, write songs, or do anything in the music field?
A new website called Indaba Today just might be the answer to prayers of those who are trying to make it in the music industry.
Launched in 2007, Indaba Today is a website where musicians can sign up for free (unless they want to upgrade to pro for just $5 a month) and try to get their name out there in the public. Once a person signs up, there is an endless list of opportunities, including contests and chances to create new music, remix other people's music, network with people from around the world, and even possibly create a band online.
Some of the site's board members include Martha Crowninshield, Queen Latifah, Iris Keitel (Executive Producer of the 2003 Grammy Award-winning film, "Sam Cooke: Legend"), JJ Rosen (previously Executive Vice President of Sony Music Entertainment's Commercial Music Group), Matthew Siegel and Dan Zaccagnino (co-founders), and Tom Zaccagnino (co-manager).
"We created a place for musicians around the world to network and make music together through online collaboration and have grown to over 500,000 musicians—from hobbyists to Grammy Award winners," the site claims. So the creators view their job as boosting musicians' careers and possibly help them get noticed by a person in the industry too.
Indaba also offers many tools for musicians who might need help.
"We're always building new features and will continue to join forces with premier music and technology partners to help musicians get the most out of the latest opportunities on the web and in the music industry," the site explains.
So, in other words, to all you musicians who want to make it in the music industry, join the site. Do not hesitate! You never know who might discover you.
