College Upgrades Parking and Classrooms
As a new school year gets underway, you may have noticed some of the changes around campus. In a recent interview, UC Blue Ash Assistant Dean Gene Kramer discussed several upgrades to the UCBA campus over the summer in anticipation of an increased enrollment for the 2011-12 school year.
One of the projects involved the construction of a new left turn lane at the north entrance to alleviate some of the traffic problems for people entering and exiting the campus.
In addition, 64 temporary parking spaces were installed, in the lot behind the Pavilion. Kramer said that the temporary lot will likely remain as it is for the next two or three years due to the fact that it is difficult to pave over the gravel lot during the academic year, when the extra parking spaces are still in use.
Another project that is new to the college this year is the addition of a free shuttle bus service between UCBA campus and UC main campus. This service is free to all UC students with a UC ID, but parking in UCBA's lots are still only provided for UCBA students. The shuttles run every 45 minutes from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday.
In addition, in an effort to keep the UCBA classrooms up to date with the latest technology, five more classrooms have been upgraded to electronic classrooms this year, allowing professors to access computers during their lectures and to create a better learning experience for students, Kramer said.
Kramer has been with the college for 16 years and has been Assistant Dean of Business Affairs and Facilities Management for the past eight years.
