It's More About Money Than Race
The United States has a issue with race. We all know that. That’s not the main issue though. The main issue is the ever-growing gap between the rich and the poor in this country. In a capitalistic society like ours, money is power. Those with money have the power. Those without it will do just about anything to get it.
The differences in lifestyles of the haves and the have-nots is like night and day. In lower income areas you have high crime rates, poor schools, lack of hope, and increased police presence. On the other hand, the people with higher incomes know nothing of these parts of life. The gap between rich and poor gets bigger everyday.
People who don’t get educated properly are normally regulated to working at low paying jobs just to make ends meet. Then amongst those people there will be people who will get into illegal activities to make a better way for themselves. Those illegal activities don’t make them bad people, but with felonies on their record they would have even less of a chance to escape the ghetto.
There is no way to make things in this country better without a better distribution of finances in this country. Judging by what you see in this country, one would think the government doesn’t care what happens to people without a great deal of money. That’s actually an idea that’s believable to me.
With the money that’s spent throughout the judicial and penal system, there can be some funds allocated to doing things to improve the lives of lower income individuals. It costs far less to educate a person than to lock that person in jail, but it seems that’s what happens to the poor more often than not.
Until the gap between rich and poor is closed, there will always be issues in the lower income areas. Crime, police brutality, lack of education—these things will never stop until the distribution of wealth changes in this country.
