Radiologic Technologists Students Traveling to Cleveland
The entire second year class of Radiologic Technologist students at UCBA, in addition to past graduates and one first year student, are traveling to Cleveland, Ohio April 18-22 to attend the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists 2012 Annual Meeting. The UCBA students will travel to Cleveland on their own. There will be between 500-600 total attendees at this year's meeting. The students will have numerous possible activities to participate in.
The Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists Annual Meeting will have attendees from Ohio and surrounding states. The attendees will include educators, students, and professionals in the field.
A team of 8 students including Katie DePeel, David Evers, Ali Nickley, Sam Rahe, Bridget Sackenheim, Lauren Strunk, Jason Taylor and Erin Tuchfarber, will compete in a Quiz Bowl competition. They will compete against Radiological Technologist students from 18 other colleges. This competition will last all day. The students involved in this competition will use buzzers to answer questions. The Quiz Bowl competition will be set up like a bracket and there will be a double elimination to determine who the winner is.
There will be an Honors Banquet held on the last day of the meeting for the winners of these competitions.
In addition to the Quiz Bowl competition, there will also be a poster competition. Students will have to prepare a poster about Radiological Technology and then present their posters to a group of judges. The judges will also ask the students questions about their posters.
All of the students traveling to Cleveland will attend lectures led by physicians, Ph. D.'s and other experts in the field. In addition, there will be open forums for the students to discuss issues relevant to both the profession of Radiology Technologist and to students.
There will be a separate party on Friday the 20th for all the students who attend the conference.
This meeting is a great opportunity for the Radiological Technologist students to network. They can meet students and educators from across the state, as well as potential future employers. All students who attend can take a practice exam to prepare themselves for the exam they must take to gain certification.
Overall, this will be an amazing opportunity for radiological technologist students to not only gain knowledge, but to also meet other people in their area of study.
