Style: For the Love of Fashion
Since when does the term “dress- ing nice” mean that you have to wear Gucci, Christian Louboutin, Marc Ja- cobs, and Vera Wang? Or in our soci- ety now high name brands are True Religion, Rock Revivals, Michael Kors, and Ralph Lauren Polo. Why do we let people judge us by the brands we have on our bodies? Fashion is not all about name brands. It’s defining your own style and who you are as a person. Clothes let you express to people who you are without even talking to them.
Most people may not have known that Fashion Week in NYC was this past weekend. Designers such as Alexander Wang and Perry Ellis were showing. The styles off the runway ranged from tailored dresses to cropped tops with skinnies and many, many skirts. Every designer showed their style of what’s considered “HOT” and what’s “NOT.” Some showed only their personal style, but don’t we all have our very own per- sonal style anyway? But what makes you considered to be “HOT” or “NOT”?
With the constant fashion changes that happen, you can never be in style for more than a month. In Fashion Week what was considered on the “HOT” list was oversized everything. This is always great. You can bring the cozy sweater that you curl up in the house in and wear it outside and be fashion forward all day long. Of course, you cannot forget about the sneakers. It’s no secret that sneakers have taken over the fashion world and the trend just won’t stop and will continue all year long. But don’t forget: everything isn’t in style. You still have fashion that’s “to- tally out.”
Those styles that are “totally out” probably should not be worn any- more—such as the cut-out shoulder tops. If you want to show your shoulders, it’s called a tank top and the floral crowns, also known as the flower girl. These are just some of the famous “NOT” fashions in 2014. But don’t forget you can always turn a fashion don’t into a fashion do.
So who says you can’t be on the “HOT”
list by wearing what you want? Nobody. What makes fashion amazing is you—your unique style and the presence you give off when wearing those clothes. Make it unique, make it you, because you never go out of style.
